Dear Community Program Assistant Kari Schwab,

I am writing in interest of the Summer 2018 Agricultural Education Internship position. After learning about this opportunity last fall from my college Agricultural Education professor, I believe I can offer the leadership, independence, and learn a great deal from an opportunity like this. I am committed to creating strong and meaningful relationships through all opportunities I endeavor.
During my FFA experience and other employment, I have had the opportunity to work with a variety of people. My position with Walmart and Running Aces has allowed me to practice my communication, efficiency, and money management skills. While my FFA history shows a great deal of my leadership orientated life, and pursuit to learn more in the area of agriculture. Additionally, I am currently in my second year as an agricultural education major at Southwest Minnesota State University to further my passion for the agricultural field.
Finally, I had the opportunity to work with our organization last year through this internship. I worked with the Kasson-Mantorville FFA Chapter and was able to strengthen my passion for teaching. There were so many opportunities in the internship that I would love to continue to build.
I have enclosed a copy of my resume for your own review. I can be contacted at your convenience at (651) 600-XXXX or by email. Thank you for taking time to review my application and for considering me as a candidate for this position.
Respectfully,

The Power of Letters

As our Writing in Professions class learns more about formal letter writing, I recall experiences in the past where I have taken time to write business letters. In high school, my College Preparation Composition class learned about complaints, inquiry, and compliment letters. As an added twist, we could mail our letters for extra credit. Of course I sent mine, since I wrote honest letters that included how I felt. After sealing and mailing these letters, it was a short 3-weeks and I had gotten a response from the companies. I wrote a complaint letter to the manufacturer of my screen protector on my Ipad. It wasn't a terrible protector, but there was clearly a defect in the one I had gotten. The company responded with sending me a new protector and reimbursing my original purchase. I still use their screen protectors to this day because the quality of their customer service and know they truly stand behind their products. One of the other letters I wrote was an inquiry to a fo...

Final Paper- Methods Proposal

Making the classroom interactive, inclusive, and innovative are important to my philosophy. For my final paper I have the opportunity to dig deeper into a topic that relates to what I want to do in the future. There are many agricultural topics that could be covered, but instead I have chosen to write about Special Education in the Agricultural Education classroom. The proposal will discuss current teaching methods, curriculum and current Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources standards, and reflect on SPED methods and how they could be applied into the classroom. This proposal expands beyond my philosophy and dives into how I am going to make this possible. I plan on using the SMSU database, MN databases, Education course materials, and personal experiences to write this proposal. I also will seek guidance from teachers and mentors of mine.
